OCI TerraSus reinforced its commitment to environmental stewardship when more than 100 of its staff took part in a tree planting activity at its Samalaju Plant this morning.
OCI TerraSus reinforced its commitment to environmental stewardship when more than 100 of its staff took part in a tree planting activity at its Samalaju Plant this morning.
The activity saw staff plant more than 600 saplings, with the aim of increasing greenery and contributing to the biodiversity of the surrounding environment. OCI TerraSus President Chung Seung Yong said the initiative reflected the company’s responsibility to balance industrial growth with environmental stewardship. “We hope that as these trees grow, they will not only provide shade and greenery, but also contribute to enhancing the biodiversity surrounding our plant. We do not want this to be a one-off event, but an annual initiative through which we continue to play our part in caring for the environment. “ESG is the responsibility of all of us. Even a simple action like planting a tree today is part of that responsibility. We hope that when we see these trees growing in the years ahead, they will remind us that what we do today can create a lasting impact for the future,” said Chung. He also expressed his appreciation to the Forest Department Sarawak and NREB Sarawak for their continuous support and important work in protecting and preserving the environment for future generations. Also joining the programme were Bintulu Regional Forest Officer Mr. Hwang Chiong Hee, Bintulu Environmental Control Officer Diana anak Jonathan Jalin and members of OCI TerraSus’ senior management.
