To reduce the risk of ignition in a high-risk environment, staff are no longer permitted to bring lighters into the plant. In addition, the number of smoking huts has been reduced. For employees who wish to smoke, lighters are provided at designated smoking huts only. Periodic patrols are being conducted to ensure compliance with this policy. Any staff found in violation will be subject to disciplinary action. As part of the campaign, selected site staff and contractors are required to install GPS tracking systems on their mobile devices. These systems must be switched on during working hours to enable location detection in the event of an emergency, thereby helping to reduce response and rescue time. In addition, a piping colour-coding system has been adopted across the plant. This system allows staff to quickly identify the contents of pipelines and their associated hazards, enhancing situational awareness and supporting safer operations. Together, these measures reinforce our shared responsibility to maintain a safe working environment for everyone in Samalaju.
